Hotspots

What is Hotspots?

Hotspots is a multi-agency referral mechanism through NHS County Durham and tadea. It allows professionals to refer clients who you feel are at risk of fuel poverty or the effects of cold. We provide training for a wide range of health and social care teams and pass on referral cards that are quick and simple to use.

What happens to the clients?

Any client you refer will receive one or all of the following services:

  • Home energy advice
  • Advice on switching fuel providers and tariffs
  • Advice on fuel debt
  • Referral onto free or discounted home heating or insulation schemes
  • A benefit entitlement check
  • A home fire safety check carried out by the Fire Service
  • Referral onto any other relevant services.

We also have an Emergency Fund to provide immediate help for the most vulnerable people.

What is the criteria?

We don’t ask you to worry about which services your client will qualify for. We simply ask that you refer anybody that you have concerns about and we will investigate which course of action will be most suitable on an individual basis, case by case.

What does the Hotspots referral card look like?

It looks like this:

And you will receive a pack when you have received your Hotspots training, as well as a leaflet to remind you how the referral process works.

Hotspots training takes 10-15 minutes and fits easily onto the agenda of a team meeting. If you would like some more information or to book a Hotspots training session, please email: health@tadea.com. We also offer refresher sessions for organisations that we have previosuly trained.

If you have already received Hotspots training from us, please leave us some feedback: Hotspots Referrer Feedback. Thank you!

  1. I work for a local charity as a manager of their centre, our purpose is to support our community and offer help and support on a wide range of issues signposting and working in partnership with relevant organisation and groups. I think having your information may assist us to do this.

      Hello Margaret,

I’m glad that the information is useful. Do you think your staff would benefit from some Hotspots training? I will send you an email explaining what it involves as we would be happy to come out and deliver some if you think it would be useful.

      Thank you,

      Kind Regards,

      Rebecca Crossan
